Purpose
Men helping men reject hiddenness, isolation, passivity, and cynicism in favor of a lifestyle of openheartedness and wholeheartedness toward God and others. [Luke 10:25-27]
Mission
To implement and refine a ten-month discipleship journey where men learn to reject hiddenness through embracing a lifestyle of authenticity [II Corinthians 3:12-18], reject isolation through forming meaningful attachment bonds with other men [James 5:16], reject passivity through confronting beliefs and behavioral patterns that keep them stuck [II Corinthians 10:3-5], and reject cynicism by honestly grieving their losses and learning to look for God’s grace in present opportunities [Hebrews 12:15-17]
This mission is facilitated through the following activities: (a) monthly meetings with Scriptural teachings through a relational lens and where leaders both model and create a safe context for authenticity; (b) twice monthly one-on-one meetings with other men (wingmen) in the group (alternating to a different meeting partner each month); (c) assignment of readings and other activities for reflection and growth; and (d) a weekend retreat at month seven.
Reinstatement to authentic discipleship is a lifetime journey. Our fallen natures and our fallen world chip away at gains made—eroding progress birthed in a ten-month journey. Graduates of The Reinstatement Project are encouraged to continue in the next cycle of groups in a leadership or support role and/or to find parallel contexts for building upon growth gains made.
